Types of Car Washes: An Overview

By Aqua Bio Technologies: Leading Vehicle Wash Solutions Provider | Blog, car wash, car wash equipment, Products, water recycling, water recycling equipment | Comments are Closed | 22 April, 2019 | 0

With several different types of car washes available for car owners to choose from, choosing the right one depends on a customer’s specific needs. Before choosing a car wash, consider a few questions: Are you interested in washing the car yourself? Do you want a basic wash or do you want every detail of the car covered? What is your budget for the wash?

The answers to these questions will help you choose from the different car wash options listed below.

Self-Service

Self-Service washes are among the oldest, and most simple, types of car washes. These washes offer individual bays where customers can park their car and wash it themselves using a high-powered hose and cleaning supplies. Most of these washes are coin- or credit card-operated, so the customer has control over how much they spend on the wash. At this type of wash, the customer is completely in charge of cleaning their own vehicle.

Automatic

When most people think of car washes, an automatic car wash is most likely what comes to mind. In an automatic car wash, the car wash itself does all of the cleaning work. Mechanized rollers, brushes, and blowers clean and dry the vehicle as they move over the vehicle (in an automatic in-bay wash) or as the vehicle moves on a conveyor belt through the cleaning tunnel (in an automatic tunnel wash). These car washes are simple to use, and are great for customers that have a limited amount of time to get their car cleaned.

Touchless

A touchless wash is similar to an automatic wash in that the car wash does all of the work. The difference is that no parts of the wash actually touch the vehicle in a touchless wash. Instead of mechanized moving parts, the touchless car wash uses high-powered water jets and cleaning chemicals to wash your car as it is moved on a conveyor belt through the cleaning tunnel. Customers that want to make sure their car’s paintwork or other more delicate components are not damaged may want to choose a touchless wash.

Hand Wash/Auto Detail

At a hand wash, or auto detail shop, all of the car washing is done by a professional washer. Often, this type of wash includes both the interior and the exterior of the car. This type of wash is incredibly detailed and often takes more time and money, but will leave your car looking brand-new.

With a variety of different types of car washes to choose from, it is important to keep your specific needs in mind. Knowing what you want ahead of time will help you make the best, and most economical, choice for you and your vehicle.
